Arthur L. “Roy” Shull

d. June 4, 2022

On Saturday, June 4th, 2022 Arthur Leroy “Roy” Shull of Pipersville, PA, passed away in the house in which he was born. He was 95 years old and the husband of Lillian Mae Lambrite Shull, with whom he shared over 70 years of marriage before her passing in 2020.

He was born on the Shull Family farm where his mother, Minnie Yerger “Grammy” Shull, had been born and raised before him. Roy was the 3rd of three children. His older sisters, Elsie Shull Swope of Blooming Glen, PA and Adeline Shull Henderson of Lancaster, PA, preceded him in passing.

Roy attended Tohickon School – the local one-room schoolhouse, then Doylestown High School through the 8th grade. By that time, his father, Arthur “Pappy” Shull, needed his help on their growing dairy farm.

At Christ Lutheran Church Tinicum, Roy met the love of his life, Lillian Mae Lambrite. They were married there in 1949, despite her mother’s life-long admonition to “never marry a farmer!” Roy loved working on the growing dairy farm with the full support of his wife, Lillian. Together they raised five children – Alan, Mark, Arthur, Timothy and Eileen. As he approached retirement, sons, Arthur “Art” and Timothy “Tim,” assumed increasing responsibilities on the farm and became owners with Roy. All members of his family enjoyed his love and full support.

Roy Shull was a man of few words – always carefully chosen. He would often say “let’s wait and see” until he had more information with which to make a good decision. He was always quick to find the positive in any person or situation. One of his sayings was “Whenever you point your finger at someone else, remember you have 3 fingers pointing back at you!” He was humble, had a finely-tuned sense of humor and could tell some darn good jokes.

He was a member in fine standing of Plumsteadville Grange and Christ Lutheran Church and in later years also attended Point Pleasant Baptist Church. He was a loyal friend who enjoyed lifelong relationships.

Roy and Lillian were a great pair and their personalities complemented each other. They loved to travel, especially by car and found many good reasons to take trips across the country, always making new acquaintances who were then invited back to the farm. Many were the gatherings at the family home for holidays, birthdays, graduations, card parties and church fellowships.

In recent years, Roy was able to maintain a good quality of life in his home, thanks to the loving care of a team of dedicated care-givers that became like members of the family. We are very thankful to them and grateful for the many kindnesses extended to our Dad and to us.

Roy was a man of deep faith, who kept his feelings close to his heart yet generously shared his love, friendship and support. He is survived by his five children and their spouses: Alan and Jane (Reynolds),Mark and Donna (Holland), Arthur and Mary (Valiant), Timothy and Tina (Hellerman) and Eileen and David (Mitchell): twelve grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces, nephews and countless friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service at 12 p.m., Saturday, June 11 at Christ Lutheran Church, 353 East Dark Hollow Road, Pipersville, where the family will greet guests from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
