Allen Carter Gardy Sr., Carter to close friends and family, a distinguished Princeton graduate and passionate sports enthusiast, bid farewell to this world on July 29, 2023 at the age of 91. His legacy will forever be cherished by his surviving family, friends, and the countless lives he touched along the way.
Born in 1931 in Doylestown, PA to Mr. J. Allen Gardy and Mrs. Geraldine Buckman Gardy. Carter displayed exceptional promise from an early age, leading him to pursue higher education at Princeton University (1949-1953 ) where he developed lifelong friendships that would shape his character and values. After graduating from Princeton, Carter served two years in the Army Guided Missel program at the White Sands Proving Ground before returning home to Doylestown to become owner and manager of the Gardy Printing Company from 1960 until 2005.
One of Carter’s most defining passions was sports. From a young age, he became an avid supporter of various teams throughout his life. He not only enjoyed watching sports but also actively participated in various athletic endeavors, promoting the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship in his son and grandchildren.
Carter is survived by his loving wife life, Nancy and a son, Allen Carter Gardy Jr., who inherited his father’s passion for sports and intellect. Carter Sr. was a devoted father who took immense pride in his son’s accomplishments and supported him every step of the way.
As a grandfather, he enjoyed his beloved grandchildren, Jack and Emma. He shared his love for sports with them and encouraged them to pursue their dreams with determination and enthusiasm. Jack and Emma cherished their grandfather’s presence in their lives, cherishing the lessons and memories he shared with them.
In time, a new generation arrived, and Allen Sr. became a great-grandfather to Savannah. Although she may not have had the privilege of spending as much time with him, the legacy of love and devotion he left behind will forever be felt in her heart.
As we mourn the loss of Allen Carter Gardy Sr., let us also celebrate the beautiful life he lived and the love he shared. His memory will forever be etched in our hearts.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
