Sandra C. Fickes

Sandra Carpenter Fickes of Doylestown Township, passed away peacefully July
29, 2018 at her home surrounded by family. She was 82.

Born in Easton, PA, Sandra was a 1954 graduate of Wilson Area High School
and continued her studies at The Churchman’s School of Business in Easton,
where she earned as Associates Degree in Business Science. She then worked
in the financial services and insurance fields.

Sandra moved to Bedminster Township, Bucks County when she married Gene W.
Fickes in 1958. Her life was centered on her family, the family business,
church, community service and her friends.

The mother of three, Sandra valued education and was proud that each of her
children graduated from college. She played a quiet, but important, role in
the success of the family operated Deep Run Packing Company.

She was an active community servant. She served two terms as an Elder at
the Presbyterian Church of Deep Run, as well as on dozens of committees over
almost six decades and taught Sunday School. In the community she served on
the boards of the Bucks County Symphony, Heritage Conservancy, Lenape Valley
Foundation, Pierce Free Library, Village Improvement Association/Doylestown
Hospital and was a founding board member of both Americans for Native
Americans and Pennridge Music Association. She also served as Chair of the
Red Cross Bloodmobile at Doylestown Hospital and on the committee for
Heritage Conservancy’s annual Christmas at Aldie.

Sandra was blessed with many friends, and several of them joined her as she
traveled the world studying different cultures and religions, and visiting
many of the world’s historic sites

Sandra is survived by her three children: Kimberly (Anthony) Maychuk of
Bedminster Township; Scot and Christopher (Kimerly) Fickes, both of
Franklin, TN; 13 grandchildren: Nicole Olson, Michael, Donald, Troy and
Tessa Maychuk; Samara Housley, Emily, Timothy, Abigail and Martha Fickes;
Danielle Michener, Garrett and Kali McManus, as well as seven
great-grandchildren and her brother, Michael, of Oak Hill, VA. Sandra was
preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Mabel, her sisters: Charlot and
Jacqueline, and her husband, Gene.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, August 4, at
Presbyterian Church of Deep Run, 16 Irish Meetinghouse Road, Perkasie, PA
18944. Interment will be private.
