Mary E. Phy, of Chalfont, died peacefully at home on Wednesday August 2nd, 2017, surrounded by family. She was 89 years old. Mary was the beloved wife of Albert C. Phy Jr. for 63 years.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Hazel (Dennison) McCrea and raised from the age of 9 by the late Willard and Neta Dennison of Ridley Park.

Mary was an RN at Hahnemann Hospital. While in training, she met her lifelong friend, Emily (Sallie) who introduced Mary to her brother who soon became her husband and soul mate. Together they had 5 children. Mary loved being a devoted wife and mother and treasured many happy times with her large extended family. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading and shopping.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Ken (Sandy), Ed (Carol), Steve (Autumn), Don and Sandy; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her sister Emily, sister-in-law Katherine (Billie), and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by 3 siblings; Alice, Albert and Ruth; daughter-in-law, Joy; son-in-law, Joseph; brother-in-law, John B. and sister-in-law, Emily.

A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 26th at Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Rd, Doylestown, where the family will receive guests from 10 a.m., until the time of the service. Interment will be private.
