Doris O. Young

Doris O. Young died peacefully on Friday, March 31, 2017. She was 89.

She was the loving and devoted wife for 66 years of Claud “Bud” Young.

She was born Feb. 28, 1928 in Philadelphia to the late John and Dora O’Neil. Doris attended Little Flower High School and graduated from Bucks County Community College and Antioch University with a degree in social work.

She was employed by the Bucks County Area Agency on Aging. After retirement, she worked at Bon-Ton.

She treasured her 30 years of service to the Central Bucks YMCA Seekers Program. Doris loved to spend summers at her home on Long Beach Island entertaining her family and friends. She loved the beach, gardening, exercise classes and traveling.

She was a dedicated member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel for over 50 years and was on the bereavement committee.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret ‘Dolly’ Shortall and Gloria Miller, and brothers-in-law, James Shortall and Frank Miller.

She is survived by her husband, Bud; was a loving mother of Doreen McVaugh (Rich) and Joseph Griffin-Young; beloved grandmother of Laurie Frayne (Bill), Kellie McGowan and Amy Robinson (Joel) and great-grandmother of six.

Doris adored her family and felt she had a wonderful and “blessed” life.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 6, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 235 East State Street, Doylestown, where relatives and friends are invited to the visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.   Interment will follow Mass in Doylestown Cemetery.
